I have a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine that has the same defect that many contributors to this site have mentioned. The corner of the lid has cracked.

Seems likely this is the same issue/ defect that many have addressed here - too much stress on the springs cause the plastic to break. I called Whirlpool Customer Service who ask if I bought an extended warranty (no) and then they say they have no recalls or information on any problems with the lids on their washers. Seems interesting since there are so many such messages/complaints about this problem/defect. I escalated to a Supervisor (Lisa) who said the same thing (no recalls, no knowledge of a problem with these lids).

She said to physically write to: Whirlpool Corp. Office (Canada), 200-6750 Century Avenue, Mississauga, Ontario, L5N 0B7, attention: Jill Culpepper, National Site Manager.

Product or Service Mentioned: Whirlpool Washing Machine.

Reason of review: Damaged or defective.

Monetary Loss: $350.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

whirlpool front load washers are poorly constructed the spider arm is made of a non compatible material and corrodes resulting in the arm breaking can't buy the arm alone must buy the arm and tub assembly costs almost $ 500 if you add on labor cost bill will be more than you paid for the machine new, if you contact whirlpool they will only "document" your concern, nobody sees the complaint!! they say they can't send the issue to engineering not allowed to!! what a looser company
