My machine Whirlpool Cabrio WTW7800XL0 is just 4 yrs. old and it has the same issue...

Plastic cracked where glass and back of frame meet. Isn't this a safety issue when a lid can break off and its made of glass that can shatter? One side is cracked and the other is starting to weaken... I called Whirlpool and was given the same story, not enough complaints...

Said I would need a repairman to find out what caused the problem?> HELLO... Manufacturer design flaw or Manufacturing issue? Who do I call next a team of design scientists to study the problem. Last time I buy a Whirlpool...

and I thought it was worth paying the higher price for quality... so much for that thought. Anyone know of a metal lid in Silver as a possible replacement?

Thanks in Advance... Signed--- Last Whirlpool Owner

I received a call from a Whirlpool representative... Asked if I already repaired the machine...

gave me the usual... your machine is out of warranty and it has not been recalled... I can turn you over to our parts department at a cost of $249 plus shipping and tax! Maybe we should start a class action suit to see just how many people have this same issue.

Then maybe they will acknowledge the problem. Whirlpool isn't the machine it used to be or the Company that it was either.

We called Whirlpool and were told about a 'Repair +1' program that was $50 a year for the washer and paid for parts and labor BUT wasn't valid for our lid issue because it was already broke. CONVENIENT, wish they'd let us know it was available when we bought the washer.
