Loud Noises

Whirlpool - Loud Noises

Whirlpool 26.8-cu ft

French Door Refrigerator with Ice Maker, Water and Ice Dispenser (Fingerprint Resistant Black Stainless

The technician said that there isn't anything he can do about it. That basically I'm stuck with this problem because even though he did hear the loud banging he said he can't fix that and in the meantime I'm having to suffer with all those unusual noises.

As soon as he left it did it again two more times because it's usually at night but when he was here and was running the heater it was making those horrible loud knocks! The thing that I don't understand is that when I purchased it through Lowes I thought I was making a wise decision but now I feel as if I'm not being heard as if I don't matter. It's not normal for your refrigerator to be making so much noise!! It's keeping me from relaxing in my own home not knowing if someone is breaking in or what!

The loud knocks banging and clicks like frog sounds are horrible! It sounds as if someone is throwing heavy rocks from the inside or knocking really hard!! Then for hours I hear what sounds like kissing or clicking sounds.

I don't feel safe having to be on high alert fight or flight mode all the time because I can't tell the difference if someone is actually knocking on my door or if it's the refrigerator again because when I'm sleeping and then woken up suddenly like that I just get so startled!!

I have to get up each time to check the whole house just to make sure it's not a real person breaking in and then try to go back to sleep just to go through this a couple of times every night! It's exhausting and I've had a tension migraine for weeks but this is beyond cruelty because they told me that the burden of proof lies on me!!

What more proof do they need that even the technician heard it for himself!

The knocking is real and so is the banging and what does Whirlpool want me to do?

To keep allowing the technician in for a total waste of my time until the warranty expires and then I'm stuck with this? Even the technician said there isn't anything he can do about it! I'm not interested in making another appointment with the technician I want to speak with the CEO/President of Whirlpool..(Marc Bitzer)

Whirlpool has also said well you didn't buy it from us! Meaning go to Lowes where you purchased it but Lowes also tells me to go to Whirlpool !

So basically just giving me the run around!!!

This is totally not acceptable and now I want a full refund and go elsewhere! I'm done plus I didn't sign up for this torture! This is not okay with me and I want a full refund!!

Let the one who sold me this piece of junk to take it home for a couple of nights so that they can know what is happening!! I'm also sending a message to the better business bureau because I don't want it and they need to step up and do the right thing!!

Return Damaged Refrigerator

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Whirlpool - Return Damaged Refrigerator

I had a refrigerator delivered on 9/8. After it was installed and the driver left, I found a large crack inside.

I called immediately to get it picked up and returned. It was scheduled for pickup on 9/22 from 2 to 6 pm. I canceled a replacement because I needed a new refrigerator immediately. Whirlpool was unable to deliver another fridge for at least a week.

I have called several times to confirm the pickup time, including today at 5:40 pm. No one has come to pick up the fridge. I am beyond angry. Still waiting on a refund.

And apparently, they only pick up and deliver on Mondays. Worst customer experience ever.

Poor engineering of a specific machine

What happened was...

We had to replace a washing machine recently. no frills no famcy.

Non non negotiations

Size X Large it runs they said take this whirlpool cabrio home. That'll be fun!I Owner of a washing machine that is a decent size overall, minor repair (TX hard ) ) no worries. This machine is engineeredso poorly too sensitive that it start running water on its own,, wont open locked lid because it stores so maintained codes in memory its Impossible to preform a hard reset. My.model isnl no longer being manufactured.

My model is high efficiency water saving agitatorless stinky model. The design came frome someones that obviously sent his stuff off vs repairs at home. The filter is at the bottom of the tub. How's.

Someone suppose to tip washed and for mandatory cleaning like this? Repairman that's right! Lid lock and striker will drive you to he'll and back.they are known problem. Google The technician worksheet its there for your DIY repairs.

Do not buy this machine avoid it like the plague!

Don't have recommendations I'm too busy shopping for more parts and workarounds. We are prepared to buy another washer right now

Personal experience dealing with the warranty on a 8-month-old washing machine

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My 8 month old whirlpool washing machine quit working started a load of wash and it just quit during mid cycle with three lights showing up on the control board call the warranty they sent a Tech out to look at it all he did on his first arrival was swap out the board and that was it and it still didn't work and so he just kind of guessed that it was the capacitor and he didn't have one of those with him he'd have to come back and he did all that without checking anything out no meters no nothing just assuming so there was a week and a half delay before the first visit now I got to wait another whole week for this capacitor which when he came out on the second visit he installed the capacitor it didn't work he replaced a lid switch that didn't work still the same issues now he says he needs to order some other parts and he'll get back with us when they come in so now another week and a half goes by for the third visit and the parts he ordered that he come back to do was the board again and he replaced another part and it still didn't work so now he says he'll have to come back a fourth time after you ordered another part and during all this time he is not testing anything with meters or anything it's just like he's guessing or hoping if you replace the right part you eventually get to the right one after eventually replaces everything in the unit during all this time now we have to be laundromat in town I ended up spending over $60 in quarters do our wash because it was down for over a month and a half even when I called the whirlpool place to complain they listened to you on the phone but that's as far as it goes when they called me back they told me that there was nothing they can do just let him keep coming out until he finally fixes it right I told them he's not even a qualified Tech and what he was doing and how he was doing it and they didn't seem to care about that so then I mentioned to him just swap out this Appliance with the same Appliance that's all I ask they say they don't do that it has to be repaired so then I asked him well how long can this keep going on it's already been a month and a half was going to take two or three months to repair you guys are okay with that they are okay with that I am so disappointed in Whirlpool their warranty is a joke and was really funny is I got a letter in the mail while I'm dealing with all this to extend my warranty with them that will never happen so now on the fourth time he comes out and he replaces apart and the board again and he claims he's got it fixed now but when we use it it only works in certain modes this washing machine has a lot of functions and different abilities of doing things and sensors and we can't use every function on here because it will go right back to the same results that we started with and not work so we just stick it in one function mode and go with that but I'll tell you if this thing goes out on me I will never buy another Whirlpool Appliance do to their very *** warranty service which is zero and I won't buy these fancy machines with all these digital boards and everything just give me the old fashioned turn the dial push the button in washing machine cuz if anything on that goes wrong I will fix that myself by the way my washing machine was the whirlpool with the removable agitator so everyone out there beware of that one but just beware of whirlpool in general

Unsatisfactory customer service

A Whirlpool dishwasher was ordered from Lowe's and delivered with concealed damage (warped door) not noticed until installation, beyond Lowe's 48-hour return window. Lowe's assured me it would be replaced under Whirlpool's one-year warranty.

Whirlpool has sent a technician out twice - the last time 7 days ago when Whirlpool recommended that the drum, door, and motor be replaced - rather than just replacing the $600 machine! Since then, nothing.

The phone is never answered, and the chat line cuts me off. I've been sitting with a new, unusable dishwasher for a month.

Terrible customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Washer has a known issue with faulty parts. I called in to request service, and they said the part would be covered by warranty, but I would still have to pay the service charge.

After contesting through several different employees, I got to a manager or supervisor who advised that the trip and part would be covered if it was the part they believed it to be. Next issue, they had no appointments until two weeks out. When the two weeks came, it was canceled the morning of, stating the part was out of stock and there was no estimated delivery date. I called again and was on hold for almost two hours to be told there is nothing they can do until it has been another 14 business days (not calendar), and then they will see 'what they can do.' When asked what this meant, they said they couldn't disclose options until the time came.

Totally ridiculous process for such a large company. I didn't purchase these appliances as they came with the house, but I'll never buy a Whirlpool again.

I wanna say they suck ***

Updated by user Aug 24, 2025

also forgot to mention that during all the repairs and replacements, the control panel stopped working. just give me a new fridge

Original review Aug 24, 2025
...but that is enjoyable!! I bought a whirlpool fridge from Costco last march or April 2024...thank god I used my Costco visa for the extended warranty.

Earlier this year, around April I think, our fridge started making noise in the damper, I guess its called, in the fridge section. While tech was here I mentioned the freezer not making ice, and that I had to keep a chopstick on the bar so I could go in and manually "defrost" the ice maker, so the ice tray could dump. That is the backstory...now...he replaced the damper (2nd visit). Third visit he replaced the ice maker.

Still wasn't making ice, so called Costco again. Sent tech out again, 4th visit, he ordered a new ice/water dispenser. 5th visit he came out to install said dispenser. 6th visit, I called Costco again because the ice was side shooting, so tech came out again, and we realized that whirlpool did not send the funnel thing that makes the ice fall straight into the glass.

I also mentioned that I was still not getting ice. 7th visit to replace ice/water dispenser with funnel and I believe another ice maker. 7th visit still not making ice, tech came out and told me *** it I am getting you a new *** door". He is as fed up as I am.

soooo...he ordered the door, for some reason it got shipped to me, so now I am getting all kinds of *** mail from whirlpool about I should buy extra insurance to cover my purchase (umm, basically, *** Door came in, I called and told my tech it was shipped to me for some reason. He came out, 8th visit, unpackaged the door and it was the WRONG *** COLOR. At this point the tech and I laughed. He ordered the door AGAIN and had it shipped to his shop-.

Finally came in, another 8 weeks later and guess what...it was the RIGHT COLOR. 9th visit now, he came out and installed the door. Worked fine for about a month and, last weekend and this weekend I had to go buy *** ice! It is just me and my husband...we don't go through a lot of ice.

I called Costco again today, and they are going to send my tech (yeah, I call him my tech...I told him I would invite him to Thanksgiving dinner...but we won't have any ice) out again.

I don't think a new fridge or a refund costs as much as the RPL parts and shipping of said parts and the cost of my tech coming out now, what...at LEAST 10 times (I honestly lost count).
I of course can't get a hold of whirlpool to *** them out, so I am trying to hold my anger towards Costco. It ain't their fault, but I think they would have enough influence with whirlpool to facilitate a new fridge or a refund.
