Purchased a total of six new appliances from Whirlpool in 2012. Five out of the six have had various problems that Whirlpool would not fix.
Yesterday our electric range stopped working model # GFE461LV. The oven board went completely black, no lights, no clock and no way to operate the oven. Two weeks ago this same situation occurred and a technician looked at the range , but did not find anything wrong with it. He said it had a loose wire.
Supposedly he corrected the problem. Now two weeks later the same problem has occurred. NO oven....nothing! When we purchased this range within the first week of use the same situation occurred and the supplier replaced the unit.
Should have taken the hint at that time. The worst part is yet to come! The oven control board and key pad controller are broken. Cost to repair is over $700.00 in addition to what was already spent to diagnose the problem from two weeks ago.
It cost more to repair this junk than to purchase a new unit.
Purchase a new GE range last evening. NEVER will EVER buy another Whirlpool appliance and will encourage everyone I know to stay away from them as well.
