We have a whirlpool side by side refrigerator which we bought in 2008. It is not even 10 years kld. Recently we had issues and a Whirlpool athorized repairman replaced a part which turned out not to be the issue. That cost $311. We purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio washer in 2012 and have had issues with three cracked lids that require replacement. The first two were replaced under warranty. The third happened after the warranty expired and the appliance repair store wanted over $500 to replace the lid. Spider Assembly on stainless steel wash drum failed during spin cycle. Warped steel wash drum and damaged outer tub. I researched warranty and according to website the steel drum had a limited lifetime warranty. Whirlpool customer service has denied this basically rendering my machine a total loss. We've had our refrigerator for 3 years and it caught on fire last night. I'm suspecting the ice maker? The smoke damage is awful not to mention all the lost meat we had in it. Very disappointed. Thank goodness we were home when we noticed the smell.

My Whirlpool refrigerator/bottom freezer has been serviced more than 7 times in 2 years. The freezer freezes and the top gets warm. Something freezes over. It was serviced so many times over the years that we finally started defrosting it ourselves. Unplugged it for 2 days or so and then it would work. Very convenient! Whirlpool's only service provider in my area of Maryland has sent 7 technicians (7 separate visits) to repair my refrigerator's ice maker. After wasting 7 days of my time, waiting for a technician, they still haven't agreed on what is wrong. Twice the icemaker has been replaced. Once a tech diagnosed a light bulb problem. After 3 weeks my Whirlpool Side by Side fridge died along with all food inside. Frozen up! Part is on order, insisted that I receive a new fridge and that is in fact happening, however I have NEVER been spoken to or treated like I was on the phone by corporate. The washer has a defective clear glass lid where the plastic hinges fail. The lid costs in the range of $200 and will break again. It costs too much to maintain this washer. If a repair service company is used the costs will run at least in the $500 range. My appliance is 4 months old. I have been waiting since 9/2, no 9/5, no 9/13 for my part to come in. Its been 4 weeks and I still don't have a part for my washing machine. I am spending $30 a week at the laundromat that I will never recover. After waiting 23 minutes on hold I was told they don't have a date for the part!!! Nice customer service!
