We purchased our Whirlpool Duet washer in May of 2009 (model WFW9200SQA12). While I had been happy with the machine's cleaning, it suddenly made a loud crashing noise during the spin cycle. I immediately stopped the machine and called for a repair.

Repair man said the bearings were corroded and many parts were broken and needed to be replaced. So, he gives me an estimate of $909.00 for repairs. I paid $800.00 for the machine! So basically, my 22 month old washing machine is totalled.

I contacted Whirlpool and talked to customer service. There is nothing they will do for me since my 1 year warranty has expired. I spoke with four different individuals and they all had the attitude "too bad, so sad".

The service tech said that the bearings were corroded by the laundry soap. Corroded after only 22 months? Who designs something this ***? I only used HE detergents and even less than specified because I had read that too much detergent could damage the machine. I also cleaned it once a month with Affresh and never overloaded it with clothing.

It was a splurge to spend 800.00 on this machine in 2009. Now I have to go out and find a replacement. The sad thing is my dad worked at Whirlpool for 36 years. It's sad that I will have to go buy another brand.

Monetary Loss: $800.

Location: South Bend, Indiana

We have the same machine and it was working great these past 5-7 years since we've had it but just last week it started leaking. We had a technician look at it and it said it's the circuit board.

He said in all the machines he's repaired, a lot of them had issues with their control panels. It must be the companies because he said that a lot of the machines he serviced we between 5-8 years old and he barely repairs any older machines since they last longer.

We bought it used on sale for like, $600 and a new panel is $400 so we're buying a new one today. They don't make things like they used to.

Same machine! Bought 11/08.

Bearings went just before warranty ran out! Lucky me! Whirlpool would not give me a new machine. Parts and labor cost was more than washer cost originally.

Now, Main Control Board is shot! Need a new one. No appliance place in the U.S. has it and neither does Whirlpool.

I was told there was nothing they could do. One appliance place told me it was on back order till 2/20! Whirlpool has not stood by their product(s).

I went on Face Book to Whirlpool USA and also my home page and wrote about my problem.

Whirlpool told me to send them an e-mail with all information. I did and that was 2 days ago! I want a new washer or I want a considerable amount of $$ to buy a new washer. Shall I hold my breath!?

Whirlpool has until Monday to do something otherwise I am buying an LG.

It is a shame because most of my appliance are all Whirlpools!

The refrigerator needed servicing 3x's within 5 months of owning it!

So think again before buying Whirlpool!

I bought the same model washer/dryer a tad over 3 yrs ago and since day one the washer has been a POS. Select a cycle and it may decide to run, then again if its in a pissy mood it will kick off.

Sometimes you can get it to start by holding the start button down till water starts flowing, other times its a moody *** and forget about washing for a couple hrs.The business that sold the pair doesn't do service calls further then 50 miles,(I'm 60)Whirlpool said we could take the washed back to where we bought it for service,but.......since a tech can't see that the washer is installed correctly per Whirlpools instructions, the warranty may be voided. Huh?

Say again? :upset Never again, Whirlpool are you listening?

We have a 4 year-old Whirlpool Front loader (mod.WFW9200SQA12) that makes a horrible knocking noise while spinning. When I took the last load out it had chewed up pieces of gray plastic on all our clothes.

I've hated this maching since we brought it home brand new.

We thought we would be saving ourselves money on electric and water only to be let down on the *** thing only lasting 4 years. I'll never, ever buy another whirlpool product or a front loading washer!

Also have a Whirlpool Duet machine, approx. 2 1/2 yrs.

old. Bearings gone on it. Parts not available for another month!

I've been out of a machine for almost a month already. Spent way too much on this machine and am sorry I did.

wow. My same machine lasted the exact same months.

LOL and my Bearings are gone. I never bought Whirlpool before and I'm wondering what kind of monkey business they are running.

:( we also bought this model in 2009. The first one less then a week.

It locked & would not unlock. We called Lowe's (where we bought it). They didn't want to take it back. We has also bought the matching dryer.

We advised them they would exchange it for a new one or they were getting both back & the charge card would cancel the fee. They did decide to take it, the second one got a code on it within a month. The repair man we called told us it was the main board & would cost a large amount of money. My husband pulled the front off to find it had change in the drain.

He cleaned it out. Now today I have water all over my floor & the seal is sliced. There has never been anything sharp in there. I am so disgusted.

I have had Whirlpool before & it lasted 20 years.

I only went with Whirlpool because they are made & headquartered in my home town. NEVER AGAIN!
