Whirlpool Ceramic Cook Top

We purchased a Ceramic Cook Top, because we got tired of the coil burners and how hard they were to clean.. My father in law worked for Whirlpool so we decided to try one of theirs. WE purchased model #RF364PXPW on February 2005 a few months later I had to call, because I had used the self clean oven feature and the ceramic top cracked, the lady was very nice and stated that the cook top had a 5 year warranty on it not to worry whenever it cracked it would be fixed. They sent a repair man out and fixed it no problem.. I did not use my self clean oven feature again for 2 years, because I was afraid it would crack again, but when my daughter spilled something int he bottom of it, I had no choice and you guessed it, my ceramic top cracked again 2 days later after baking a pie shell.. When we called for them to replace it again, they changed the story, that we have to pair for the labor and call, they will only pay for the parts. When we told them this isn't the first time it cracked after using the self cleaning oven feature and we did nothing to cause it there was a obviously a flaw in it to make it do that, they still refused to help. WE are still fighting with this company and because I still have to cook for my children, it has gone from a simple hairline crack down the middle to being broken into 5 pieces. The only thing the customer service person had to say was well don't cook on it until you can afford to get it fixed. Please do not buy this product, I am so afraid someone is going to get seriously injured from this product. I know when ceramic cookware has flaws in it, it can just explode at any given time and I am so afraid that it could happen with this ceramic top I refuse to have my children in the kitchen while I am cooking..

we are looking for a ceramic cook top range ,and i would of thought that Whirlpool would of made a more reliable product!!
Th customer service(or lack thereof)
is really the pitts,yours is a few years old now so chances of getting the same model are slim to nil,but killed a sale by the poor CS!!
